My story

The strong handicraft background of our family led me to sewing when I was young. I grew up following my grandmother's and my mother's sewing, so it felt natural to choose this profession and entrepreneurship.

I graduated as a seamstress in 2014 and in the same year I won the Finnish Championship in sewing.
After graduation, I continued my studies in Fashion and Clothing degree at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. In Metropolia, my degree consisted of clothing production, collection designing and pattern making.
In 2018 I studied one semester at Joshibi University of Art and Design in Tokyo.

I created my company in 2016, and since then I have worked with several companies and brands. My work includes sewing, pattern making and designing.
I expanded my business in 2020 by establishing the Pinja Heikkinen custom designs and seasonal products.
